Update (Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 5:45pm ET): The article has been corrected to specify this is a pending patent and not a granted patent.
Photographer and YouTuber Peter McKinnon has announced the release of his new PM Camera tool, a patent-pending pocket tool that features integrated Phillips and flathead drivers, as well as space for standard 1/4” hex bits so you can customize it to fit your needs.
Uninspired by the various camera tools he’s used over the year, McKinnon got to work developing his own. It’s taken nearly a year and a half, but it’s now complete and ready for purchase.
In addition to the built-in Phillips, the pocket took has two extended arms with four spots to house standard 1/4” bits. Integrated magnets hold the bits in place and a unique lever pops out the tool you need without having to dig into the edge of the tool to pull it out.
There’s also a hidden SD card holder, an integrated pocket/belt clip and an eight-bit storage case for the bits you don’t currently have in the tool.
The Peter McKinnon Camera Tool is available to purchase for $95 on his ‘Pete’s Pirate Life’ website. This is a bit of a premium over most other camera tools on the market, but it does come with a dedicated carrying case and a lifetime warranty, so should any of the bits, arms or pieces break, replacing it should be fairly straightforward.
