As it does every year, the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) has unveiled its list of “World Awards” winners, which this year includes 40 cameras, lenses, accessories, monitors, software programs, and printing services. TIPA’s members include magazines like the U.S.’s Digital Imaging Reporter, the U.K.’s Photography News and Australia’s Camera.
It will probably surprise no-one that both the Nikon Z9 and Canon EOS R3 were awarded, the former being named “Best Full-Frame Professional Camera” while the latter received the “Best Camera Innovation” award. Meanwhile, the Sony a7 IV picked up the award for “Best Full-Frame Expert Camera” and the Nikon Z fc was named “Best APS-C Camera.” Perhaps more surprisingly, the Panasonic Lumix GH6 lost out to the OM System OM-1 for the title of “Best Micro Four Thirds Camera.” The “Best Medium-Format Camera” was the Fujifilm GFX 50S II.
On the lens side—relevant to underwater shooters, of course—TIPA hailed the Canon RF 14–35mm f/4L IS USM as the “Best Full-Frame Wide-Angle Zoom Lens” and the Canon RF 100mm F2.8L Macro IS USM as the “Best Macro Lens” of the year.
