Which of These Fujifilm Lenses Will Satisfy Your Bokeh Craving?

Fujifilm makes some pretty impressive lenses, and in between their well-established X Series and the respected GFX medium format line, photographers have a lot of choices when it comes to narrow depth of field and bokeh. This great video compares an option from each line, the GF 80mm f/1.7 R WR lens and the XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR.

Coming to you from John Branch IV Photography, this interesting video review compares the Fujifilm GF 80mm f/1.7 R WR lens to the XF 50mm f/1.0 R WR. With equivalent focal lengths of 63mm and 76mm, respectively, these two lenses are pretty close in terms of the frames they create, but of course, one is designed for medium format usage and the other for the APS-C X series. While I generally preferred the images from the GF 80mm f/1.7, I have to admit I was surprised by how admirably the XF 50mm f/1.0 performed, and the differences were not as large as I had expected them to be. While Fujifilm’s medium format series is spectacular, it is worth considering this point, particularly with the lower cost and much higher portability of the X series. Check out the video above for the full rundown.
